Central Florida Members - economic crunch effecting anyone?

I just joined the club (not by choice). The place where I worked just laid-off 13 people this week, me included I'd been there almost 4 years. Very upsetting.

Are any of you other central Florida members feeling the crunch? The architectural industry (where I worked doing graphics) is getting hit very hard, as nobody is building/lending money for new construction.

SO- anybody who might need some graphic design services (photo retouching, website, business cards, ads, logo, posters, etc), please let me know! I hate to post about a job here, but I'm checking every resource I have.

I would suggest this is not the most lucritive forum to post your ad on, but having said that, nice work. Not sure there are many here able (or in a position) to hire. I personally have no problem with this sort of post, but I don't speak for the board.

Yeah, I almost figured my post might get deleted. Haha. I'm not trying to scout for a job here, just wondering if anybody might need something small done. Sometimes you never know!

Orlando is a horrible place for jobs/housing right now. Lots of foreclosures, next to no jobs available.

My dream would be to work for an orchid greenhouse!! Might have to make some phone calls

I sympathize. No problems with me on your asking here. Networking helps. Even if noone here is in a position to hire, perhaps people know people who can help. Will add in my prayers for you to find favor somewhere.

Thank you so much My parents want me to come home (to Alaska), but that's not an option for me. I have too much here to just give it up. I think people in my generation (20-somethings) are going to get hit very hard during these times. We paid a lot of money for our houses, now we lose our jobs and can't sell our houses. It's a bad situation, and I'm afraid it's just going to get worse

Sorry if this goes beyond what you intended, but according to Sarah Palin last night, all is well (actually very well) in Alaska due to her personally. She seems to have created a utopia (in her own mind) in Alaska, so maybe that's a choice? Sorry for the tongue-in-cheek.

Sorry Alaskagirl My heart goes out to you!!!! I have a few friends/neighbors that just recently got that same news...
I work in the weapon industry that protects our country. I'm terrified of the same thing happening to thousands of us here in town "if/when" military cut backs, come into play.
