Here's a local bulb (non-orchid). Not sure if it's native or naturalized, but it's an heirloom bulb here. You find huge clumps at old homesites long after the house is gone. It pushes up these flowers in early fall, out of nowhere. After the flowers drop the foliage comes up and stays until the first freeze. Then no sign of them until the next fall. Neat.
