I can't wait till I can try it one day, so thank you for all the great info.
I was sent a cypress tree and put it in a bonsai dish.. I just don't know what to do with it now.. I keep it about a foot high and thats it so far.. I really need to get back into that.. its much cheaper than um.. orchids.. oooopss.. did I say that out loud? LOL

here are some good bonsai reference books.

Amazon.com: Bonsai School: The Complete Course in Care, Training & Maintenance: Craig Coussins: Books
Amazon.com: Successful Bonsai: Raising Exotic Miniature Trees: David Squire: Books
Amazon.com: Ortho's All About Bonsai (Ortho's All About Gardening): Ortho, Penelope O’Sullivan: Books
this one has a TON of pictures
Amazon.com: The Living Art of Bonsai: Principles & Techniques of Cultivation & Propagation: Amy Liang: Books

and, i forgot to add this one...
Amazon.com: Pocket Bonsai: Care Shaping Repotting Species: David Prescott: Books
small, portable, easy to use! they should make one of these for orchids.

Now that its a sticky, no one is posting on this thread! My Fukien Tea is in full bloom. Here is a close-up of the flowers. I took these with the kit lens, reversed on my canon xs.
