Thanks for sharing that with us David. Wow! I am amazed at it's beauty. Wasn't home last night so I shall raise a glass of red in it's honor tonight. Possibly two glasses. The second one in your honor for growing it! I have a new respect for this Florida climate thing you all have going on down there too. The only time I have been in Florida since having lived there as a child, was in 1992 I think. We took DD to Disneyworld. She was sure she was in Heaven but DH and I were sure it was the other place. So hot and humid. I bet Dorothy throws great parties.
Sooooo pretty. I purchased a few related cuttings from Ebay...one yellow variety and one raspberry/orange. They've taken root and are beginning to grow. It'll probably be a few years before it blesses me with a bloom.
My plant is in full sun in my pool enclosure most of the day...the screen for the enclosure blocks about 30 to 35% of the sunlight. I hope this helps.
Adam, they grow on trees as epiphytic in Ding Darling refuge on Sanibel. That should be full sun, sans a bit because of the leaves. I would suggest full sun in your greenhouse. Just my 2 cents.
Night-blooming cereus, also known as the Queen of the Night or Reina de la noche.

How cool. I think I need to move mine into more light. I started two cuttings several months ago. Can't wait for a bloom. I thought I'd have to get up at 3:00 a.m. or something to catch the flower.
