Swamper I would love to have a rain barrel! If only I could figure out where to put it. I bought some huge buckets at Target...when they are half full they're pretty heavy to lift. That should count as 'exercise' shouldn't it?

Rainbarrels are great to have if you can do it.

We bought our first one from the County Extension Service here for $20 or $25 (not sure )

I assume other Florida counties do the same thing. Every few months they hold a class on how to make one and you get to take yours home. We didn't take the class, they had some extras and we just bought it. We've since added two more that hubby put together. Get the barrels at almost any feed store and then set up the spigot.

Well, it's a beautiful clear day here in Spring Hill, had a little rain and dark skies earlier but that's gone and now it's just very "breezy" I think we are supposed to get rain later this evening. If we do, I won't be online

I saw a video on youtube or something like that on how to make a rain barrel. It was hooked up to the rain gutters and filled pretty quickly.
Vanessa depending on how many times or how many half buckets you move, I guess you could call it a workout
Sue you don't go online when it rains?

If it's just rain, it's fine.
I don't keep the computer on when there's thunder and lightening in the area.

Sue, they make battery backup systems. Pretty inexpensive at Office Max, etc. I have two for my workstation, two for my 2 computers upstairs, and a fifth one for my HDTV. APC is a good brand. Buy at least a 650 (minimum) and run your monitor and main PC box through them. Don't connect the printer or extras. In case of power failures, it will allow you enough time to power down your PC safely. If you get little "gliches" in the power (burps) it will filter those out and make your PC last longer. Just a thought. If you do buy one, get the biggest you can, it will allow you the longest time before you must shut down. Oh, and if lightning does get through and take out your system, APC has a, like $50,000 guarantee (something like that.) I've never lost any equipment due to power outages, lightning (pretty common for me) or brown outs.

Susie Maybe one of those retractable clotheslines would work for hanging orchids in your garage temporarily. Guess it depends on just how many you hang on there.

I know about them, Ross
I worked for an office equipment/ computer networking company up in NY and we put them on all of our systems. I do have Monster surge protectors on everything but playing on the computer isn't really that important to me when there's a storm. I can go for a few hours without it

That's a great idea!

I would be sure to put some knots along the line when I had to use it, otherwise all the hangers are going to slide towards the middle
