Just checking up on my friends in FLA. Hope all are well and not too inundated! How bad has it been?

We've had some flooding up here and more rain on the way....but not so much with the wind. I have just been thinking of you guys and willing to offer cuttings, if anyone looses a plant...like I read in a prior post, better to loose the orchid than you! Hang in there!

Default Melbourne awakes to more wind and rain

Melbourne is still experiencing gusty winds and intermittent rain showers. From an Orchid growers perspective, it's still too windy to risk placing potted plants outside. Our sporadic wind gusts would surely knock them over.

Brevard County still has many road closures and some of the northern areas are still experiencing heavy, sustained rain. Many businesses remained closed due to the flooded conditions.

We could have really benefitted from this wet stuff during the May/June drought.

Good morning, June

I'm happy to see you're okay

The pictures I've been seeing of the Melbourne area are stunning!

I read in the paper this morning that an alligator was seen swimming through the streets!

Default Fay is not letting up!!!!

Ummm...I have weathered several of the past storms in Central Florida, Hurricanes Charlie, Francis and that other one (Irene maybe?) in 2004. Francis was a brat as she stayed over us for a good 2+ days, but was mostly wind and less rain, however, Fay is now taking the rain cake!

We have had rain for the past 5 days straight. I swear it has maybe let up for 1/2 hour at a time, if that. It is crazy.... Orange County (where I live) closed schools Tuesday (as did the office I work in) and most surrounding counties as well. They are closed again today as the storm turned and decided to sweep back over us, for a second time! It doesn't really feel like a second time, as the feeder bands never left the area.

I am wondering if June and her hubby made the venture to the West coast of FL? It isn't as bad over there (I think), but they would have to travel through this crap in Orlando. I looked outside about 15 minutes ago (located on the 5th floor of an office building) and the rain was being blown in so many directions it was crazy!

All that being said, some of us don't mind a little rain Just ask Jackie...she didn't let a little tropical storm put a damper on her orchid hunting this morning! I was hoping to go meet her, but got kept at the office too long! Anyway, she scored some great finds from what I hear, so the good news is that we are all still functioning here in the now flooded Orlando. I feel for any poor tourists right now..

Marty, good luck on your vacay. Daytona and Orlando both look pretty sad today.... I can't even tell you waht time it is as it has been the same color outside for 5 days. (sigh...poor 'chids).

Melbourne was hit really hard rain wise. Yes, the gators are roaming the streets, as well as catfish and koi have taken to swimming in streets and yards. The news this morning said a Lion and a Tiger got loose from a zoo or something and were roaming for awhile before found and captured.

This has been one very strange storm....
I would tell you where it is heading next, but that won't make any difference as it will change it's mind 5 minutes later.

To everyone else still fighing Fay

Ditto that. Hey vmaxx, they say it may head in our direction. I know it would be nothing like what Floridians have had to deal with, but I need a break from the rain too.
