Does anybody know what this is? - Orchid Board

I've included a photo of what I would refer to as a weed or ground cover. It's viney with yellow flowers and shallow roots. It's very invasive and is taking over the better part of my yard on the west side of the house and is now popping up in the back yard. I've tried Scotts Weed & Feed and it didn't phase it a bit. It's not an ugly weed and stays green throughout the winter. I've tried pulling and pulling and digging and pulling.

If a little piece gets broken it begins to grow again.

I've thought of using a vegetation killer, but that would kill any grass that's remaining too.

Does anyone know what this is?

That little weed is Wedelia trilobata, or 'Creeping Daisy'. We got a small piece about 6in. long, set it on the ground, and it took over the entire backyard!

How to get rid of this, I guess weed killer. They're tough!

Thanks for the I.D. On the bright side, it's attractive, evergreen, and doesn't have thorns.

Find a branch, follow it to the root and pull it out?
I had a similar one with little white flowers on one side of the house and that's how I got most of it out. Unfortunately it had grown from a neighbor and it keeps coming or trying to come back. I am tempted to jump the fence and wack it. On the bright side mine is also evergreen and thornless.

This is easier said than done. You should see the stuff. It has grown so dense and climbs over and under itself and anything else. I'll probably have to just start digging. There are patches of health grass runners invading my mulched areas. As I dig out the weeds I'll replace them with grass runners.

As someone else wrote, it's commonly called "wedelia" (she/he gave the full latin name). It's considered a native plant I was told, and you can buy it at native plant places. It's a little tall for a groundcover (it wouldn't mow well), but lots of people in my area use it as a cover for areas they don't want to mow regularly--and as you probably know, it handles both sun and shade.

Do you really want to get rid of it, or just keep it contained? Curious--one person's weed is another's garden flower!

It's more than a battle to keep it contained in this area

Turn your back on it for a bit and it's everywhere.

I had some of that in my yard. And I also tried Scotts weed and feed. I have to say I will never use Scotts again. I used Vigaro from Home Depot and I have not seen it since. You can be a little heavy handed with it. Now, Vigaro is the only lawn fertilizer I use. If you have recently fertilized, I wouldn't do it again til the fall. Good Luck
