Default thread hijacking

Hi all, Would someone please explain Thread Hijacking. I'm sure I'm guilty of this. Although confused to what it is exactly. Take for for instance someone post a picture/name of a flower in the "Orchids in bloom" section, is it inappropriate to post like pictures and talk about your plant? Or are we only to comment about there plant/flower? Up until recently I thought by commenting about your experience with the same plant was sharing experience's. Which I also thought was the reason for this board. Please tell what is the appropriate way to post reply's. Thanks

It means changing the subject. I am sure I have done it without thinking. I don't think the situation you mentioned is hijacking.

Dave .. you are fine .. There is nothing inappropriate about the way you reply to posts ..

Hijacking is going way off the subject of the initially created thread - I have had to move posts to their own threads because they were totally off topic to the subject being discussed .. or new members introduce themselves in already made threads giving their post little exposure ..
They are usually individual judgement calls ..

I see nothing wrong with posting your experience or photos in threads. You are right, that's what the board is about ..
What made you think that you are doing something inappropriate?

I wouldn't consider that hijacking .. if you find that the conversations turns and it takes away from the initial thread .. it can always be moved by one of the moderators .. again .. it's an individual judgement call ..

Well, It seems that some reply's apologize for hijacking and I did understand why they would say that. And it made me wonder if I was guilty of the same thing.

Example of hijacking.....I recently went to the beach and couldn't believe how small the bikinis have gotten, here is a pic to prove my point ...
