I think people do that as a sign of courtesy .. they might want to make a point yet not want to take the fire out of the initial subject or take away from the thread creator's trend of thought ..

I have been wondering the same thing. I responded to someone's question with a question to them, but it was related to what they had posted on and I thought that maybe I high jacked the thread.

I like how this board is so open and relaxed as long as things don't get to out of hand. Other forums, I won't mention names, won't even let you say where you purchased your darling orchid from, I like that we can do that.

Anyways...see my liking of openness of this forum and mentioning it in this thread, is that considered high jacking?

I've learned here that if you are unsure whats going on. Just ask! and the best people on the web will be there to help.

The willingness of our members to share with our friends is just another reason this place is what it is

When a thread is posted, it's an opening statement in a conversation...the rest just falls into place.

I think it veers off into a hijack when the replies get into a different subject altogether...like when somebody posts a thread of a mounted Encyclia and we all go ga-ga over it...and then start talking about where to get the best driftwood for mounting...which I am guilty of doing on occasion
