Default My other obsession, gardening!

I can't remember where we are suppose to post pics of our gardens. Oh well, perhaps someone can kindly move this to the right forum posting.
Here are pics of my summer obsession besides orchids. I have 5 small perennial gardens that keep me very busy. It also keeps me blissfully happy. Today I spent hours out in my gardens weeding and planting and I ache all over tonight, but I love every minute of it. Well, except for having two ticks on me, but other than that, it's wonderful!
Well, unfortunately I was not able to post pics of two of my other gardens...the two I love the most. I tried to resize, etc, but it's a no show. Oh well.
I had to post pics of my front porch (the best one wouldn't upload, of course) where I am slowly moving out some of my orchids for the rest of the summer.
Thanks for looking!

Wow Kiki, your gardens are sooooo beautiful!!! It looks like you put a lot of work into them, they look perfect. I love your garden path and that cute bench! Your porch is really cute too. Your orchids add a special touch outside don't they? You should be so proud, everything looks gorgeous!

I am so enthralled with your house and gardens!

Kiki, they're gorgeous! I want to come play at your house! Ticks, though, I have to tell you. . .maybe me squeal and cry. roflolol

HOW do you keep the deer from eating your flowers? I am so jealous!!! I am just struggling with our conditions. I can't tell you how hard it is to grow anything where I am. Montane zone 4, 8,600 ft., dry dry dry winds, drought conditions, burning sun and DEER. And did I mention, we're not supposed to water outside. Our well water is rated for indoor use only. . no water rights. But never fear, I have a plan but it's gonna take a tall fence. roflolol

I would be in heaven to be able to grow and play in a garden like yours!

It's so nice that you posted these pictures for us! OK, now I am gonna have to see those other photos! Post pictures when you can.

Default Gwen's garden problems

Gwen there is a plant catalog called high country gardening or high desert gardening. I am sure you can find it if you google. Things suited to the climate in there. Also, try blood meal for the deer. Has to be reapplied when it rains and about once a week if it doesn't. Very high in nitrogen but works quite well to keep them from eating your garden.

Thanks so much. I did have lots of trouble with deer coming down and destroying my beautiful hybrid lilies when the buds would appear, but I got this deer repellent recipe online that I make up and spray on them that really does work. Stinks to high heaven, but at least my lilies aren't deer candy. I also have red beetles that I hand pick off those same lilies all during their growth (put in a container of water and soap).... that's alot of extra work, but when those lilies bloom they are spectacular! Those are the pics I need to figure out how to get posted. My favorite garden of all.
Most people would have no trouble at all posting/resizing....not me! Everything computer is a challenge. I even did the resize thing that worked for many of them, but not all.
Thanks again. I'll keep trying!

What is this stinky recipe?

I think I may need to try it!

Keiki, I use Adobe Photoshop to size photos but just in case this will make sense for your image sizing process:

You need to change the measurements of the photo width and height (of course) and then you also need to change the resolution.

A lot of programs that are used to make this change, will also let you redistribute the image data.

So be careful to notice, that the outide measurements of the image are locked to keep the image "proportions" the same when you change the resolution. Otherwise, it will just add back in the big picture data.

Your pic was probably to big and that's why it wouldn't load for you here.

I mean I am having trouble growing things that are suitable for our climate!

I am having (relatively & really very small) success with lamb's ears!, lavender and salvia and quite a few wildflowers. Gonna be a fun learning experience, that's for sure!

Thanks for the blood meal tip!
