Default A Sad Day for Mr. Snake

Something caught my eye this morning while I was watering some plants. It was colorful and somewhat coiled and lying very still under an outdoor plant table in my pocket garden. Of course I had to get a closer look and quickly fetched my camera for any possible photo moments. After closer examination I was saddened to see the remains of a non-poisonous corn or red rat snake. His head and front end were missing (probably a victim of a neighbor's cat) so I'm not sure if this is the same fella I saw climbing my back yard palm tree several months ago. "Bad, Bad Kitty"!

Oh how sad, I love snakes! I love the picture of it on the tree, and it looks as if it is the same one

Sad indeed. I too, like snakes. They are beautiful creatures. They're great critter control. Snakes are always welcome in my garden.

Sad indeed! But I have to think it was a raccoon or Bird of prey that did this guy in. Most cats would be afraid of this size of snake.

I get lots of snakes here. Once I even found a snake skin wraped around a dendrobium. lol
My kids and I sit outside and watch them until they leave.

That is a pretty snake. It looks more like the neighbors shovel attacked it,not the cat.

I've never seen a raccoon or bird of prey around here and our garbage cans are never disturbed when left out overnight, but there is a hungry underfed cat that lives next door. I've seen him take a large squirrel down and during past years I've witnessed cats toying with and then killing large snakes on more than one occassion. I actually love cats, but they can be pretty menacing when left to fend on their own.
