The difference in opinion on this subject seems to be a proponderance of scientific evidence versus petroleum industry propaganda. Take your sides as you see fit, but the bottom line is that our environment is changing at a fast rate.

Actually, I have a theory: it goes like this - in the Northern latitudes (like northern Michigan) if I buy a new snowblower it won't snow! If I go to Hawaii for the fall, it will be warm here. Go figure. It's as simple as that!

So let us know if you are buying a snowblower... If you do, I won't have to!

Yep! I just bought an Ariens 926LE electric start and am scheduled for Hawaii next friday! So therefore the post! It's nearly 60 F here today! I don't care. We all pay insurance for something (cars, house, etc.) For me it's snow and warm winter

Naw. Sorry, I am quite busy. Besides, nothing I say will make a difference to anything. But for those of you believing in Global Warming, take action, I encourage you... stop all pollutants, and do not use anything which has a source to pollutants... well, that's basically everything we use... eh.

Interesting Mahon

Why bother to comment on any thing on global warming if you are so busy that you can not back up your statment? BUT I will help you! As a reasercher with some insight in the scientific community on enviromental and energy related research I have a professonal interest in your statement that global warming should solely depend on the suns increased activity. I have to investigate this statement either I want or not and had hope that you could help me out.

And for your statement "nothing I say will make a difference to anything" I can not disagree more. What would happend if everyone kept their mouth closed........

There would be less CO2 emmisions... that's for sure!

But no, I am tired of recieving threatening and abusive emails concerning all of my views on global warming. The global warming is not a proven theory, and I find it VERY hard that it can be... so I will not contribute to the GW thread anymore... it seems as if politics, not research, has over-run it...

Threatening and abusive emails? Surely no one from this forum is doing that to you? You need to report them to the moderators here.

It is hard to prove global warming and a lot of evidence is anecdotal. Do we wait though until the evidence is available and it's too late to save the planet or do we start to act now? I say we do too much to the planet as it is and we all need to reduce the impact we have.

I don't think politics has overrun the forum, it is just a small part of the discussion as it should be. The whole debate is very interesting no matter how you look at it.

Darren,

No, I think that politics has over-run the theory more than the threads pertaining to GW...

Here's my look at it... those who truly will stand by their opinions on GW, need to act upon them. I personally am not at all worried about GW... but those concerned should take appropriate measures and not buy or use anything that produces pollutants or emits CO2... it's going to be a hard adaptation... anyways, lets just say that the earth is in fact warming slightly more and more... doesn't anyone think we will be able to adapt to the heat and temperature? I personally don't see the polar ice caps completely melting, because they are at the ends where less light is recieved... they may melt if the axis on earth is changing, or am I just completely wrong?

I don't think I recieved any of the threatening emails from anyone on this forum. It's not a big deal, and nothing I would want to cause trouble about anyways... just shows the stupidity of the person on the internet... maybe in real life, face-to-face, it would be a VERY different story

Mahon, you have a good point in that the discussion of GW often ends in political dissagreement, and you are right that "it's going to be a hard adaptation".

But the economical impact on the global economy that will follow a predicted raise of the sea-level by several meters, will be even more demanding. and this does not discreaminate the "belivers" from the "non-belivers".

The question is NOT, "can i adopt fully to a carbondioxide free life", it should be "what can I contribute with". It is as with words! If a large part of the population agrees and speak up, they can do something. No one can by themselfs solve a possible problem with GW but together we maybe can contribute to a change.

I think I have seen enough "evidence" for mainkinds involement in the global temperature change that has been recorded lately. I am also thinking that we have a responsibility to the coming generations to try to do something about it.

I am sorry if you are threatening becouse of your view on GW. I have no problem accepting that everyone can not agree on everything. The problem is when people get silenced, everyone has the right to speak for their view and should be allowed to do soo.
