This little blackbird was perched on my honeysuckle as I waded into the flowerbed to prune the escallonia. He stayed long enough for me to retrieve my camera from the house. Then his mother turned up to refresh his mind about how to fly!

Awww, he's adorable! It's funny that you posted this today because on my way home from work I was behind a couple of cars on my road that were going soooo slow. I soon found out that they were going around a baby bird that was sitting in the middle of the road. It looked exactly like yours only it had a gray beak. Cars were coming in the opposite direction and the baby blended in perfectly to the road so of course I had to pull over to help the little guy out. I think the momma and family were nearby in the next yard. So I had to shoo him over to safety and boy was he mad. He was snapping at me and yelling the whole time. Darn thing didn't even know that I was only trying to help.
