Thanks for the renewed interest. The plant went back to its owner (shhh don't tell anyone but I'm glad of it as It had gotten a bad case of mealy bug!). It should be coming into bloom again this year.

I worked at Bach's Cactus Nursery in Tucson, AZ and learned ALOT about different types of cacti there... when you take a cutting, let the cut part dry thoroughly before you pot it up. If not, the chances for rotting greatly increase. These plants like a bit more humidity than do most cacti, I believe.
Tindo, I have this plant. I was given a cutting with a bud on it. I watched it open one night and the scent did not fully develop till after midnight. It really is a shame that it only last one night. Where did you get the concoction to preserve your flower?
