Talking Need Help ID Cool Looking Plant

I was giving this plant and love the way it looks w/ the coloration on the leaves and all... I am told by the girl that gave it to me that she has been told that it is somewhere in the same family as cactus....ive looked high and low and the closest thing in the cactus family I can find is an agave and that is no where near this plant... if any one has any ideas please let me know
and as always ThanX



I have a couple of other plants I would like help IDing so don’t take the thinking caps off just yet

Also known as "Mother-in-laws-toungue".
Grow in Phal. light, keep pot bound. Can reach 4 to 5 feet tall. You can easily start another plant by cutting off one leaf near the base of the plant and pot up in a small pot. Takes some time but eventually you'll see a new leaf sprouting from the base of the cutting.

you know why it,s called mother in law plant?
because it is almost impossible to kill!

Actually you are right, it is one of those plants that you can't seem to get rid of.

i thought they called it mother-in-law's tongue because the longer you have it, the longer the "tongue" grows... and i am speaking from experience. lol

Ok well thanX so much for the help on that one.....
Here is my next one, ive never seen anything grow like this just all skick w/ leaves no branching of any sort absoluly awesome


here is a close up of the top the top most leaves
the ones w/ the white is what most of the leaves look like when you have a nice healty pot full of the guys
