We get the wolf spiders here too. You usually see them in the fall. I grew up in an old farmhouse and they would make they're way in when it got cold. You would be watching tv and all of a sudden one would shoot across the floor. They're kinda neat. So long as its not a snake or a bat, Im cool with it!

What the &*%$ is this???? Male
Default Actually, we have wolf spiders here, too

I will, however, never forget the last time I was in your illustrious state. I was in the shower and a baby scorpion decided that I needed a shower companion. That would scare me much more than a little ol' wolf spider. LOL!!

As yucky as it was, it was still too beautiful a creature to kill. She and the kids were released in the yard next door...nobody lives there (except this spider family now)

OMG I almost peed my pants when I innocently scrolled down to Marty's pic! I have the greatest fear of spiders, I can't even look at pictures! Thank you Sue for making yours a thumbnail. It definately is gross. My parents used to own a resort on our local lake and what I previously thought were wolf spiders used to cover the front of our cabins at night. They were HUGE but didn't look anything like yours, the legs were shorter and the body was more round. So I guess I was wrong but I can tell you now that I'm not going to look up what kind it was.

Wonder if they were these masses of bouncing daddy long legs. . .we used to have TONS of these in Texas. Used to freak me O-U-T. . .and they're totally harmless.

I used to have the most awful phobia of spiders but we have so many in Colorado, that I've sort of gotten desensitized. . .it's taken many years to get to this point.

My cats Boomer and Jasper LOVE to hunt bugs. . .so they're watching the walls, checking the baseboards etc. . .all day and all night. I LOVE it.

Dave, good eyes! The first thing I noticed in that pic was the baby spiders on her back! If there is anything worse than aphid-milking ants, it would have to be a wolf spider carrying 50 babies on her back. This thread has given me the heebie-jeebies!
