Default Fragrance—Viburnum carlesii

Viburnum carlesii, aka the Korean Spice Bush is among the most fragrant flowering shrubs I know of that can be grown in a temperate climate. Finally got one this year.

Thank you! For years I’ve tried getting one, but the only time I’d think about them is when they were blooming—-then of course, anyone walking by them in a nursery would buy em. This year I approached nurseries in February when they were pulling them out from under tarps and winter ice and snow, long before anyone else was thinking about them. Inflation hitting these too, double the price I ever saw them at.

Nice pickup! That is what happened to me last year so I ordered one online. Glad I made that move... Great fall color too

Ahh, I didn’t realize that they had fall color—-that is good to know. I just researched today on propagating these. I’m going to try soft cuttings this summer and make them available if they are successful. A beautiful shrub like this should be more available to gardeners.
