Default All White Leaves on Plants that are Variegated.

So many times I read from people who say to cut off a leaf from a plant because a plant is using energy to support the plant.

I don't believe that for various reasons. 1) It doesn't make sense and 2) I've read from experts and been told by experts ( aka Roberta for example ) that , this doesn't make sense since a leaf is there to photosynthesis to provide energy.

Anyways so based on that fact. Leaves are there to provide energy I assume that also means it's not taking energy.

So regarding all white leaves on plants that are variegated and not supposed to be all white.

Being all white it means it doesn't have chlorophyll and doesn't photosynthesis to provide energy. This doesn't mean it's using plant energy to live right?

Usually they end up dying anyways so would cutting it off encourage the plant to create new leaves faster to replace it?

Thank You!

Depends on the plant. Leaves serve functions other than photosynthesis.

Why cut variegation off a variegated plant?

leaves also breathe and release moisture and heat. they can store nutrients and water and they can look cool

just a few arguments FOR the leaf lol

I agree with all facts but sometimes I can't just stand a leaf in a plant that I know for sure it will die or unbalance the plant itself, so I just cut it or trimmed, specially if they are in bloom or if repotting. Sorry guys... I love the aesthetic of the plant; ugly plants with ugly leaves ummmh...naah for me

Hahaha I have learned to love ugly. Ugly fruit, ugly flowers, ugly people. I don’t want to subscribe to someone else’s unrealistic definition of beauty.

Have you grown dendrobium spectabile? It's fascinatingly ugly. It does have a great scent, though.
