Background music
I had to tell somebody because I can't believe it. I'm sitting in a Chinese restaurant and the background music is Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue arranged with a disco beat.

This restaurant is pretty good. They make one of the best preparations of Singapore rice noodle in town - lots of curry powder, lots of chile.
Years ago another really good Chinese restaurant here played old Western pop music sung in Chinese. This was before the Internet, so they must have bought tapes. Love Story is goofy enough when you understand the lyrics. Somebody overemoting in a language you don't understand goes all the way to hilarious. The owner tired of changing recipes to please Western tastes and moved his restaurant to a large shopping center of all Asian-owned stores. It's a fair way from my house but I go there from time to time.
