Camille, Roberta, and I have a request to those of you who've been here awhile. In the past six months plus, we've started getting more spammer action than we've had for awhile. We would appreciate your assistance in alerting us to anything you believe fits into the following characteristics:
"Odd" posts for a new member, usually with a stilted sort of language. Most time appears on a thread that's older and hasn't been added to for some time. Most times it's a sort of "on topic" type post. The spammer then comes back later (a day, a week, etc) and adds a hyperlink that's only very loosely relevant to the topic at hand.
These are harder to catch than more obvious spammers due to the delay in time from post to edited post, as it's very time consuming for mods to back-track over and over again while still reviewing new posts.
Please don't hit the infraction button; use the report button (the red triangle with ! in it) Don't click on links. That's my job.
Thus far, all but one link has been harmless, but we don't want members taking that chance.
