Mystery plant, can anyone help? - Page 2 - Orchid Board

I gotta say, I'm really confused. I know he is not so dumb as to mistake a fake plant for a live one. I know he is not the type to play a joke. He is of the most serious character, a college biology professor!

I responded to him as follows;
"Hi Dr. M,

I don't know what plant this is trying be. I would say the design is going for Clivia but not an orchid. It's a nice find though.

He responded to me by saying that he will let me know when it blooms!!! Is this thing real???????

Can you ask him to give us a better picture, a close up? Even the media it's in looks like that fake coir silk plants are "potted" in. Rinsing it off would be good too, it looked dusty.

Maybe even ask him to "slip it out of the pot" to make sure the roots look good, and possibly help to identify what it's attempting to represent?

Even biologists can have a sense of humor....
