Thank you for your words Diane... by the time I was reading about blue banded bees, then got to the fruit trees with parrots, etc, flocking around it transported me right out of frozen Kansas into your world. It sounds wonderful.

I think there must a salvia for just about any spot in any garden.

It is lovely here, we are very lucky.

I would add to your dream by adding we also see yellow tailed black cockatoos each morning and evening, but they are too important to visit our garden they just fly overhead noisily going about their day.

Wonderful! I raised many different birds over the years, and bred many roller canaries, finch, etc. My dad gave me my first parakeet when I was three, and I've pretty much had birds ever since, up until around seven years ago.

Inherited an African Grey and double yellow headed Amazon in 2003. The Grey had a vocabulary of over 800 words and phrases. She was enchanting, other than chasing me when barefoot and trying to bite my toes. Sadly, I was allergic to that much bird dander in the house and had to rehome them after a few years.

Really makes me want to get a flight cage out of the barn and start again.

I kept finches for a few years. Lovely colourful lively birds. We get so many birds in the garden here I dont need to keep them now.

So fun! We get y’all migratory friends over the winter and a mix of wading birds and song birds. Mockers and blue jays all year. Cardinals come and go. The escaped parrots from the old hurricanes are the best! We have small populations of macaws that free fly around dade and Broward county. They really make my day.

But, do you have Red Breasted nuthatches? We named ours Boris and Natasha. They escaped Canada to come here and hang by one for just to amuse us.

Would any of you know about pollinators that will work in a garden spot that is full shade half the year, and 25-50% full sun rest of the year? I have a narrow strip of "yard" between houses that runs east-west. Mid fall through early spring it is shaded since sun's path falls behind the neighbor's house along the south.

Lots. Bee balm, penstemon, bleeding heart, columbine, astilbe, balloon flower, yarrow, jasmine, verbena, hydrangea, to name a few. I have lots of shade beds.

Kvet, is what you're calling full shade deep shade? There are major differences in shade. When I was in business this was always a big problem for people. There's light shade, there's dappled shade, there's half shade, which is the last thing you described, and there's full deep shade. Prescribing plants for you is easier if you're a little more detailed about what type of shade you have. But something that would work well for you would be a white wood aster. They will grow in any type of shade, and flower in the fall. That's a time when the honey bees have little forage. I can probably help you more if you can give me a more detailed description.
