Default Some mushroom photos

Along with the orchids, photography is one of my main hobbies, which I actually got into thanks to the orchids. As I like to say, one expensive hobby spawned another even more expensive hobby, but unlike the plants photography equipement doesn't die as often!

I enjoy taking photos of mushrooms every fall in my local forest, and this year I decided to go off the beaten track and produce some photos that aren't as run of the mill.

And while I like taking photos of the hugely popular Amanita muscaria I decided to do my photo experiments with a small and plain looking species which catches and diffuses light beautifully.

For the small mushrooms, I used a pair of small flashlights to light up the mushrooms, and my phone flashlight to provide some soft, warmer toned light. My goal was to do most of my 'editing' in camera, and very little post processing in Lightroom. The result was the little dull colored mushrooms radiated the flashlight beams beatifully.

I also took some more 'standard' photos of other species.

Mucida oudemansiella

Others I haven't identified yet:

And no, I don't pick any of the edible types, I don't particularily like the taste of mushrooms!

I don't understand anything about photography, but can definitely appreciate the work that goes into making a great shot!

For some reason I really feel the urge to touch that Mucida.

Those are so beautiful!

I don't know the fungi of Europe. Could the tiny ones and the last ones be in genus Coprinus?

The 1st pic you have posted looks as though it belongs in a very special fairy tale storybook, excellent job & colorful mushroom.

The others all show extremely talented photography work.

But how could you leave behind the edibles?
I wish I understood the difference.

Really nice! I have always enjoyed seeing mushrooms during walks in the woods and when they sprout in the yard. They are pretty cool.

These are fantastic! Would be fun to learn how to forage for them one day.
