Big apologies to all! Feeling very embarrassed, turned out it was a stray leaf from something else that had blown in and lodged in the coconut husk

And at the risk of sounding kinda shady, not disappointing for me. I'm feeling kinda on-track again. Is that wrong?

Not at all. I was just commiserating about thinking you had a sprout and then finding out ya don’t.
I truthfully have no idea what you all are expecting bc I’ve never done it that way. I’m as excited as y’all

{{SmackMyHead}} What are we expecting?!? A tree, of course! That's why you keep tormenting with pictures of coconut trees sprouting, and ES encouraging us to soak coconuts! This isn't a trick, is it?

I wrote to soak them for a few days, then put them into a container where they would remain damp but not in water.

DirtyC... It's supposed to work. ES said so. And ES, I did soak for about five days. And it's been in a closed container with a bit of moist sphag since.
I think it's time to get the seedling mat out!

and I obviously didn't pay proper attention to the instructions from ES as mine has been in water all along!
I'm gonna leave it there now and hope it does as per DC's report of one growing in a floating pallet!
🤞
Anyone got a pet 'southern pig-tailed macaque'?
