Adenium obesum = Desert Rose

Once I got full use of the larger greenhouse (2500 sqft), I could accommodate some of my other plant interests. In 2019 I started to invest in Adenium obesum:

• Some interesting clones for use in breeding (can also be propagated via cuttings).
• About 100 mixed color seedlings (1 year old), to get a jump on the 24-30 month time from seed to bloom.
• Fresh seed from both Taiwan & Thailand, which allows me to keep track of parentage and thus likely colors. I have some 200+ seedlings in this plant size.

Just bloomed the first of the named clones = Sun King. Now I have to wait for something suitable to pollinate it with.

I am not at all aware of names but I have 15-20 different types on my property with single double and I think one triple petals, a few colors.

If you ever want a few cuttings to mix in some genetics I’d be happy to send ‘em your way.

I have two tiny ones that are supposed to be black but they are still small and two “white” ones that are more yellow and green

Yes, Adenium obesum is a relative of the Oleander, and as such has poisonous sap. However, I often propagated by cuttings for my dad (some 50 years ago), and came to no harm.

I bought some red/black seedlings last year. The first one bloomed regular pink/red, the other is in bud and looks more promising. I also have several double purple/blacks, which are budding up now.

Yes, I am interested in:

• Whites that shade towards yellow/green.
• Do you have any whites with red stars (stripe on white background)?

Reminds me of the Baobab trees in Africa(Tree of Life). Not that I've seen them in person but adenium look to have the same water type reservoir structure. The entire appearance is very attractive for me.

people do AMAZING training and shaping with these too but i done have the time or patience LOL

Top of the roots readily form bark, so if you raise them a couple of inches each time you repot, you will end up with a 'Baobap tree' on stilts.
