Anyone out there into rock collecting, geology?

I did a little rock collecting as a child...nothing too amazing in the collection except a piece of polished petrified wood that I bought in the petrified forest souvenir shop. I consider that one rather special since I love plants. As an adult, when digging for my pond, I found a few stones with fossil...a fern-type plant and some small water creatures. As the children do not want them, I will probably see if our local museum does.
