Obscure? I get the fragrant part, but the obscure part puzzles me.

I should have used the word "rare" or "not well known" (I have everything that is on the typical "most fragrant" lists)

I just added the Queen of Siam water lily...the blooms are very fragrant. I just love it! I am going to need a larger 'container pond'. Still waiting for the lotus to bloom.

I love tulips. I planted some this fall, but I was a litle late planting, and I didn't amend the clay soil before I did it, so they did poorly for me this year. It seems their first year is always the best, so I tend to grow them as annuals. I plant a ton of them, upwards of 200 every year, and then i cut most of them and bring them inside the house to enjoy them, but then I typically pull the bulbs to make room for my spring plantings, because like I said, they're never as good the second year as they are the first year. I love having big boquets of tulips all over the house.

Maybe somebody or some people mentioned 'dahlia' already. For those that don't know too much about dahlia plants ----- there are actually quite a variety of them, and while they are all nice ---- some of them are incredibly/exceptionally nice - their flowers.

Default Bird of Paradise

We certainly can't leave out the trusty bird of paradise!

Just to demonstrate how much sharpness and clarity is actually lost due the OrchidBoard software compressing our already tiny 1024x768 size images to smaller filesize ....... I've included image links to google-drive. Notice the significant difference in clarity - for the same pixel size!

I'm so excited!
Many years ago I fell in love with Jacaranda trees after seeing them planted along the streets in a Spanish town. Last year I managed to get 3 and plant them in my garden. They're still pretty scrawny although tall! I knew they have to be a fair age before they bloom so what a delightful surprise to find a spray of bloom on one!

Apart from 3 holes that are reserved for plants that I am growing on a bit, I have finished planting my garden! Need to do a bit of tidying up and try to sell the leftover soil.
However, panic has set in! Our ayuntamiento (local council) has pledged to give every house the ability to connect to Fibre Optic broadband. We never thought it would come to our side of the island as we are on solid rock, but they have been channelling out by the sides of the lanes, very slowly!, and it's getting close! But, and it's a big but, a channel will need to be dug from the road, through our garden, to get to the house. That means a large tractor with a pecking thingamy manoeuvring through my recently planted trees. It will also have to tunnel through the rock under our lava rock garden wall.
To say nothing of lifting part of the terrace .......
It's got to be worth it though - there are many days when I can't get online and it's been several weeks since I could upload a photo to the cloud - our current service is dire.
