BONSAI!!!

Well sort of, two of these three are mine and the cascade is my brothers so I just threw that in too. The hemlock group is the largest one I have right now and probably my favorite as I have had it for almost five years. The other gouping was my first outdoor bonsai and I have had for over five years, unfortunatly the mugo pine died when I put it in new soil . I have had many come and go both indoors and out but these two have lasted . I do have more but I don't seem to have taken any photos so I will have to take more pics when things start growing again.

Very, very nice. I take it there is a lot of cultural care needed with these?

Those are beautiful plants, Tim. I especially like that hemlock planting. Whenever I see pictures like these I always get an itch to go purchase my first bonsai. But then (thankfully) reality sets in and I realize that one expensive hobby is more than plenty for me. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your collection.

Hi Ross, some people say they are hard to take care of but they are much like orchids so you need to fertilize and water regularly. I usually dont fertilize but water is is key with thes shallow pots.

But isn't there a lot of constant pruning of leaves and roots? Or did I hear wrong on that?

Very nice bonsai. My attempts at indoor bonsai aren't so great, although I have limited success with starting bougainvillea. Which reminds me, they need to be repotted! Love yours! - Lynn

Gorgeous, Tim!! I like the Hemlock group, but the other group growing over stone is super! I am always amazed at the ability to capture a very natural 'landscape' in such a small contained space. Stunning! Thanks for sharing your photos!

Ross, you are right about the pruning but I do not follow the traditional rules of maintenance. Lynn I have given up on indoor bonsai as my orchids have taken over and they require more care than outdoor. Shakkai, I try to achieve the most naturalistic look, the way you would find them in nature just to a much smaller scale

Oh Boy !! Those are fantastic!! I would soooo like to to do Bonsai. But my wife says if I did everything I wanted to I would have to live three lifetimes or split into three Hmm.... quite a thought maybe i could make it 4 then i could go fishing sometime....
