Re: scented phals...well, Dorothy, I had a few phals and paphs, but *someone* ran over the wire bakers' rack plus plants with the mower - repeatedly, so all was chopped compost. I'm sure it was an accident; but now I grow things that I can hang high enough for safety; at least from the mower.
So now I don't grow either of those groups, and also feel that men should only have power tools that they have to wind up. Is that so wrong?

Sorry to hear about their untimely demise
A man with a power tool and no control is a dangerous thing! ...
If that is the situation - they shouldn't be given anything other than a tonka toy ...

I'd vote for a 'fragrant' area, particularly if we try to (accurately) describe the various scents as they occur.
Not easy!
This from someone who had to send Sharry Baby outside because it was so horrifically cloying...'scent' vs. 'odor' is a pretty personal call.
Good growing, good smelling - Nancy
Blooming: Gramm. scriptum - smells like banana-scented nail polish remover

My 2 cents worth is it would be to many places to look ,all a person has to do if they post on the in bloom section is say it is fragrant and what it smells like to them . Gin

I'm with you on that too, but if one of us or a guest was looking for a fragrant orchid , a specific forum could take time out of the searching.... P.S. thanks for the redneck quote, that made me laugh good n hard...

My dear you are being too generous in concluding an incident wherein *someone* repeatedly used a mower to chop you favourite orchids. I am sure that *someone* is known to you and knows well where to hurt you most. Your orchids have no safe sanctuary against such determined pest. Poor You!

That brings to my mind two superbly frangrant Aerides-A, crispum and A. maculosum, both from western parts of India.I can also add Acampe species that grows wild in the city of Mumbai as well as many specii dendrobiums like D nobile, peirardii, superbum etc etc.The Yamamato hybrids derived from D. nobile has carried further the fragrance to its progeny as well.
