400 Bad Request & Too Many Tags
- Lately, when I try to respond to a post - sometimes when just responding, others when previewing the response, I frequently get a full-page "400 Bad Request" redirect.
Those messages suggest that bad syntax is being returned to the server, so somebody needs to check the configuration of the server or forum software in relation to what they are expecting.
- I am still getting "too many tags" messages, too, especially after previewing, but if I copy the message content, back out, and then paste it as a new post, it goes through fine.

I just went through the "Bad Request" thing when posting this, by the way...

I've seen that "too many tags" message myself. Delete all or most of the tags & you can post as usual.
Hope you're on the mend soon.

We've had some other members mention it to. See here
I have mentioned it to Marty a while ago but I don't think he's tracked the cause. It started after some software updates.
Basically there is something now that's trying to automatically add tags to your post, except it goes over the limit of how many can be added.
Currently the only solution is to delete the auto added ones before you post and if you want put your own back in.

Not sure about the other message. I have had it randomly but always put it down to a glitch somewhere in the chain between my PC and the ob server. It's the sort of message I would associate with a bad network connection somewhere in the line causing lost data packets.
I get it very rarely though.

Hi, Rosie.
I have never gotten the "400" until recently, and now it's pretty prevalent.
I get the excessive tags thing in posts to which I've added none. However, if I preview the message, and make changes, repeatedly previewing, THEN I get the issue.
I have found that if I copy all of the text, back out of the message, and then repost it from scratch - pasting the text to avoid retyping - then it goes through fine. Apparently something is being added at the preview...

Yes I think the tags are added at the preview, but you should be able to see them in a box below your post and edit them out again (might be easier than copying out the post text and posting into a new post).
I've only had the 400 message when I've been on...
1. Bad WiFi signal
2. Using a hotel WiFi where they have only provided a small bandwidth for lots of users and it's very slow
3. Very occasionally at lunch times at work when everyone is on the connection and several people are also connected to customers (again causing it to be very slow).
None of these has affected me much simply because I'm not often on OB in any of those situations.
I have also seen it when OB's servers needed rebooting but everyone was having similar problems and it was only for a short period until Marty rebooted.
Sorry I can't help more at the moment on that one

I just went back and deleted all the tags on the few posts I've had this issue with.

Someone I know who had this problem, found it only occurred when they 'previewed' their post before submitting it. Not sure if that's the same for others. I never see the problem.
It would be nice to see this resolved.

Right you are, Silken. And as I recall, the tags added read the same as the text as typed.
