Excellent idea! Troubleshooting can be fun and we always learn wonderful things.

Well, for whatever it may be worth, I might first download and test Pale Moon. I used to be a fan of FireFox too, until it became bloated and over written---apps do morph over time. I then tested and fell in love with Pale Moon...related to FireFox, but much cleaner, leaner, faster. Yes, free.

In your case, I might also try connecting to the net directly via ethernet, bypassing yr router, and just see if there is any difference.

I would also get the free version of MBAM, keep it updated and run it every day to get rid of any little insects.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Protect, Detect & Remove Malware From Your PC

Also, the free version of CCleaner, run that every day to clean yr cache and get rid of junk files, cookies, etc.

CCleaner - Standard

As usual, make sure you uncheck any of the add ons in the free versions while installing.

I thought it was wireless lag time, but I've been using ethernet exclusively and still find the same problems. Something as simple as clicking on page 2 of a thread will have me hanging for so long I have to walk away and come back. Or I go to another site and browse for a while then return, sometimes to the uploaded page, sometime not. Glad it's not just me and that we're talking about it.

It's really becoming unsustainable.

---------- Post added at 01:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 PM ----------

A little more context - for me, the lag (which could continue indefinitely) almost always seems to be when I've finished reading page 1 of a thread, and when I click on page 2, it stalls out.

I suspect something is up with either the DB queries, the table indexing, or the data model itself (too many tables?).

I'd be happy to contribute some $ toward the resolution if there is someone who can put a plan together and carry that plan forward. Something an IT consultant should be able to fix or improve relatively inexpensively.

I have recently notices a trend, as well, similar to derv's, but with closer timing: whether using Tapatalk on the iPad, or browser on the PC (confirmed with Chrome, Firefox, or whatever MS now calls theirs), I go to "New Posts" first and select one to read, and no problem, but I'd I the "go back" and select another, the forum hangs for a very long time.

There must be some sort of process in OrchidBoard that isn't present in SlipperTalk or Orchid Forum. I never get this kind of churning on the other boards. That is accessing this board and other boards via Tapatalk.

When I go to Safari, this forum doesn't church like it does on Tapatalk.
