Default I hate to say it, but...

there are still times of incredible slow performance. I can click on 8-10 different favorites and they spring up in a second or two. Sometimes, like later today, OrchidBoard NEVER came up! It hung. Right now it came up, but somethings unique about this web site. I'm not trying to be a compainer, but we have a difference here from other mainline web sites (need a list?)

Ross, I'm not sure what is going on here, but my experience has been just the opposite. I'm still on dial-up, and things have been like swimming through cold honey, except for OB. It's the fastest site I have visited for the last few days. I haven't a clue. Maybe sun spots or gremlins. Go figure.

Accessing Orchid Board from my work is consistently slower and has a significant larger amount of hangups than when I do it from my wireless laptop(which is consistently super fast) at home. Could be ISP or physical connection.

I just tried to access (like 1/2 hour ago) and got a 404 error (web site not accessible). Then I try just now and it works. Marty - I doubt you're getting what you pay for from your ISP. I can click on Orchidboard and hang, then go to vertually any other site and get instant response. So I know it's not my setup or ISP. Orchidboard is (so far) ONLY site with these problems.

I to have the same problem…I’m on the so called high speed connection but there are times when it almost seems like I’m on dial-up again. I was told that if the website is experiencing heavy traffic that it may contribute to the problem. There might be some truth in that because it seems like it acts up worse in the evening when more people are on then any other time of the day. IMO….

Ross, the slowness that you are experiencing does not occur with me. I wonder if it's not your network rather than the Orchid Board server.

I'm on a cable network that runs at a maximum speed of 10 mb/sec. In addition I have a wireless network in my house that runs at 54mb/sec. My network isn't subjected to variable loads so it runs a constant 54mb/sec. The cable network will slow down at peak usages, but it maintains a pretty high speed. However, depending on the network supplying you, it could be overloaded at times either as a complete network or just at your node. I would ask my service provider what speed variations that they try to maintain and whether you personally might have some localized problems.

Again, I hear ya'll who have issues, but I never see them.

I have highest speed DSL so never see slownes due to peak periods. Other sites snap onto page. Usually (like right now) the Orchid Board snaps onto the page as well. When I get lags, it's only Orchid Board. Everything else keeps snapping onto screen as usual. I'm convinced it's not on my end.

Ross, I have the same problem with OB; every other sites snap onto page, but OB sometimes yes, sometimes no. And it's not uncommon a "404" appear! For sure the problem isn't our connection.
