Any way to stop automatically subscribing to threads?

Basically I do not want to be automatically subscribed to a thread every time i post. Is there a way to turn this off?

Click on "User CP" from the horizontal menu bar under the banner. Then scroll down the vertical "Your Control Panel" menu - choose "Edit Options" (under "Settings and Options")

Under "Messaging & Notification" there is a drop down menu under sub-category "Default Thread Subscription Mode",choose "Do not subscribe" or "No email notification"

I think you may remain subscribed and receive email notifications for previous subscribed threads - to unsubscribe or turn off email notifications for those - in the User Control Panel, go down to 'Subscribed Threads' - choose ' List Subscriptions' - check the box at upper right to check all subscribed threads, scroll down to bottom, use the drop down menu for 'selected threads' - choose 'Delete subscription' or 'No email'

Thank you! For some reason I never clicked on the drop down list because I figured all the items had to do with email notifications!

You're a lifesaver, all those subscriptions were driving my inner control freak completely bonkers!
