I usually get Amazon adds for whatever I was searching for on Amazon (or bought on Amazon) last. They have generally made sense of why I get them.

I bet the Thai sites for orchids are the reason for the other Thai sites being seen. I've not got those yet, but I don't get that many Thai orchid sites in the results for the orchids I search for.

It's not that there's any "blame" to be laid and there is NOTHING shameful in your search history. That's just how targeted advertising works. The advertiser gets to pick who sees their ads, not the other way around. The advertiser probably flagged all Asian flowers, which is completely inappropriate, but gets the ad served up to a wider audience.
I'm seeing proposals to date older women. And no, I wasn't checking these out . EVER!

I know. It's not you, it's the advertiser. Like I said, your search habits don't necessarily have anything to do with the search habits the advertisers target. They try to get the widest audience possible for their ads so they will target more mainstream search habits in order to get their ads seen by more people. There's nothing the admins here can do about it, unless the ads somehow violate the terms of service of the ad network they're being run on, then they could report them.

Yeah, which means I'll be stuck with these annoying ads... The Thai, Russian, and Chinese girls are still waiting for me to chat with them, despite me changing my settings.

I have no idea how to get rid of them... I've been playing World of Tanks, so maybe there's where the Russian girls come from? And the others just joined? *grumbles*

Just a note...

**shameless plug alert** you don't get these adds if you are a forum supporter. I only see these ones from this add network until I log in, then after that all I see are the forum sponsor ones (chosen by Marty and either orchid related or related to the other websites Marty runs).

This site is, and always will be free, however there are costs involved with running the servers etc and one of the ways that is payed for are the adds being served up by an add network (it used to be google adds, not sure if it still is).

Forum supporters can choose to make a small contribution to help pay for running the servers, and as a perk for doing that you don't see the google adds (if that what it still is). You do still see the forum sponsor links, but not the ones from google adds.

Anyway, it's not for everyone and that's why the site is free. But just thought I would mention it here as we are discussing adverts.
