Default Picture size and dial up

Noticed some really large pictures being used in posts and they look fantastic! What great detail and color - all very sexy!

Many of us, like myself have a high speed internet service and may not really think about the fact that some members are using dial up and file size could be a problem.

Are any dial-up people having trouble veiwing pics in posts?

Marty, is there an idea pic file size that is better for all? Does the OB alter/optimize the pics in any way for different services?

I'm guessing Marty will come up with something but I thought I'd chime in...on a number of other forum-type sites I go to, the best pic size is 640 x 480. I've suggested to a number of people that they download a program called Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) which is a great way to resize pictures...very user-friendly and simple to use.

I haven't been complaining too much about over sized pics in posts, because there's light at the end of the tunnel.

New version of the bulletin software will scale pictures automatically, taking all the guess work out. Yes, 640x480 sounds like a good size - although people at 800x600 res will need to scroll horizontally.

Nevertheless, it's always a good idea to resize and compress your pics before you put them into galleries or posts.

I rarely even bother to check anything but my e-mail on the weekends, when I'm on dialup. During the week, I'm on a lightning fast connection, so no problems there.

No danger of getting a high speed modem at home any time soon...
