I am inundated with "Spam" from one member of this Board. A total of 5 so far this morning. It is not invited, please do something about this.

Is it a member that gives you a lot of unwanted attention or a "real" spammer? If you feel harassed contact one of the moderators and tell them about your problem. If it's a spammer, give them an infraction (the red and yellow "cards" in the green field on top of every post). This will temporarily ban the user until the moderators have dealt with him/her.

On a related note, it looks like the top 'articles' that show up on the front page of the site are now spam that includes links. Could one of you fine mods/admins please delete these spam articles? Thanks!

We're getting slammed with spam today - thanks to all who have helped

As to the spam in the articles - needs admin to delete them - I'll p.m. admin.

Queenslander - are you getting personally spammed (private messages, visitor messages)? or referring to spam on the board? We're doing our best with the spam on the board - if you are getting personally spammed please let us know.

Ok that's good to know - of course the massive amount of spam yesterday is NOT good, but glad to know you weren't also receiving spammy pms.

Wow, seeing all the moderator reports I can see we really were slammed with spam a few days back.

Great work everyone who reported it and great work the moderators who cleared it up. Sorry I wasn't around to help over the last few days, I haven't been in to OB since some point last week.

I wonder if I might be guilty of reporting some spammers that hadn't actually posted anything. I've decided to go through the members list when I'm bored and report all accounts that are obviously spammer accounts. I know I reported a bunch some days ago... :

We had people doing that a few months back when there were a lot registering. The problem is we can't actually do any more about them unless they post, but giving an infraction (as a spam infraction with 100 points) does stop them ever posting, they just can't be removed from the members list (except by an admin) unless they post spam.

I've been thinking of doing this ever since I noticed that the two spam articles were gone:

Thank you for removing them dear administrator! They've been getting on my nerves ever since they popped up and now I don't need to see them every time I log in.

I know, but it's a good way to remove the links many of them have on their personal pages as well as stopping them from ever posting anything. I reeeeaaally don't like them.
