Unable to send a private message

There is a setting in your options as to whether it should save outgoing messages in the sent items or not. I've got a feeling that by default it doesn't as my first few when I joined years ago didn't save until I spotted this option.

If it's not that option then I'm not sure what it can be, but the options screen is worth checking to see what it's set to.
