Wow, I didn't know that the Angraecoids were such a vast group! I was aware of only 5-6 or those genera as being part of it.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much motivation for such a sub-forum.

I believe subtribe Polystachinae (4 genera, 220 species) fits into the "Miscellaneous & Other Genera" forum

this would leave subtribe Aeridinae (103 genera, 1300 species) in the "Vanda Alliance - Others" forum. (except Neofinetia and Phalaenopsis, which have their own forums)

Hi Guys, I've only just noticed this (and voted in favour). I don't know much about these guys but I'm gradually becoming more interested in Angraecum which fits here

I think there is enough support for something like this... but I don't know about anyone else but I've lost track of what it should include and what might be where.

One problem is that our existing 'Vanda Alliance' section is nothing like the real Vanda Alliance and seems to really be all of the Vandeae tribe which doesn't fit into one of the other specific sections.

Really we have split things by what is most popular rather than real taxonomy bounderies. As Kip has pointed out, Phals and Neo's which have their own section are closer related to Vanda's than some of the others which are in the Vanda section (something I've noted in the past when trying to get my head arround the taxonomy of orchids). There is nothing wrong with us grouping by what is popular, but it makes re-arrangement/new splits more confusing (at least to me )

Would Kip's suggestion of what would be included make sense to others? If so we could suggest it to Marty.
