Default ActiveX from this Site

It's taking about 2 minutes from the time I click on a post here for the page to 'turn' and develop. I am then informed that this site is trying to install an ActiveX control.

I'm assuming that's what's taking so long? What is the ActiveX and why all of a sudden is this happening? Never happened before. Internet Explorer is blocking it.

Thanks for any info and/or advice.

Try mozilla firefox. IE7 is the most unstable POS software ever created.

I am using IE6 and IE7 both with Win2K and Win XP with no issues. Not sure your comment is helpful here.

Debs,
Marty is working on improving the site...it's getting better all the time.

As for the other replies, IE has been known to cause problems...not for everybody but it does happen (and we are all entitled to our opinions here). Firefox is another option that many of us use.
I use IE and I do come across an occasional glitch...when that happens, I switch over to Firefox and all is well.

Here's a link:
Firefox - Rediscover the Web

FYI: I also use Mozilla's Thunderbird as my main email program.

Keep your IE though, and use Foxfire as your default otherwise you won't be able to get Microsoft OS updates or fixes.

The last time I had FireFox, I had a bunch of trouble with it. Had to call Dell to get my computer straightened out. Has anyone else experienced a problem with it?

Is there no way to set IE so it won't do this. It never did up until the last couple of weeks.

It's always somethin!!!

Debs, lots of sites need Active X...it's not anything to be concerned about. I can't expalin why it never happened before but the fix right now would be to do it

I allowed the active x with no improvement. Now I'm getting the website wants to instll Adobe Flash Player of which I already have.

I tried downloading FireFox and then found out the file was corrupt!! Wonder what the deal is?

I hate it that I can't use this site all of a sudden.

Deb - do you know if your system did an automatic update to upgrade IE .. I believe IE 7( or the most current version) is compatible to Vista and not XP .. you may have to remove 7 and reinstall 6 if that is the case .. You said it didn't happen until a few weeks ago? .. it might have been the update/upgrade.

Sorry, didn't see this thread. It's late, but I'll reply anyways in case someone else has this problem.

The active X that's prompting you is asking for the macromedia flash player. The animated waterfall in the header of OB uses flash. It looks good, but maybe I should take it off so visitors that don't have flash installed will not get prompted.

You can click on the bar and do install - it won't affect anything and it will make your web viewing experience a bit nicer as you will now be able to see all the animated content.
