Would a "Cause of Death" entry be of any value? We've all killed a few in our time. It might be of some value to newbies to know that we killed "X" plant because we coldn't give it enough humidity, or it developed root rot, or some such thing.
Cheers.

I added country of origin and awards to the list of attributes.
Remember, the entries in your collection (if you choose to) are visible to everyone. This way other members can search the Orchid Collection Database and pull some cool info. We don't want to have any dead weight info there, just useful things. I guess you could enter anything extra in notes. I think it's neat if a year from now, our members will be able to find out ."which member grew a cattleya native to Brazil, mounted and was able to bloom it ...say you get 20 hits...then you can further narrow it down, by say... Fragrance....

I notice that the growing conditions option does not contain "Windowsill" as a possibility - in the UK growing on the windowsill is quite a common option, and Potted doesn't really describe this, being merely an alternate to Mounted.
Also, perhaps Potted or Mounted are a separate issue to Windowsill, Greenhouse, Outdoors, under lights etc.?

Orchid Collection Database
Exactly, Hedge. Growing conditions should be a fill-in space not a drop-down. I know the OCD is to be a help to everyone but that should include the person who is using it. I need to keep track of where my plants spend their time to see how their location affects their growth.

Good points, as soon as I come up for air, I will split Growing Style into "Growing Area" (green house, Windowsill, etc) and "Growing Style" (potted, mounted, etc). This will affect the already entered plants into the OCD
any growing style notes you want to make, should go into the Notes section. That's sort of a catch all area (which btw is also searchable)

Another great feature on the OB!
How about some sections with drop down boxes instead of use entry? Possibly:

this reminds me of my cats' petster... they have this kind of feature whether the cat is dead or open for adoption... cause of death for plants in the heaven can surely help us to avoid fatal mistakes

Dave, make up the drop down list and I'll gladly incorporate it into the system.
only thing to remember is that any change after something is entered into the OCD will affect t hings in the database

Marty;
Can you shade the results/display info like you have for the data entry form (alternating light and dark for each field)? It would make reading a little bit easier.
Thanks.
Cheers.
