Hi folks

I thought I'd post a note concerning my thoughts on all the wild and crazy smilies we've been using around here...

Some of them have been great...I've used them myself

...but I think it's become a bit over-the-top.
For all the fun we have here with all of the friends we've made, the smilies, in my opinion, have the potential to backfire on us.

A lot of work has been put into making this the best orchid site EVER and the big flashy smilies bring the quality level down a notch. We want to be known for our generosity in sharing knowledge and our friendliness...not for the outrageous smilies in our posts

Can we go back to using the smilies Marty has provided for us here at OB? ...

Please?

I don't have a problem with the smilies, but it bugs me that they're hosted elsewhere. Our threads won't be deleted as long as OB is active, but the other website may go down, which will cause our posts to look like crap.

. The overuse of smilies, like Sue said, tends to lessen the value of a post, especially if they get broken

I'd much prefer to have smilies locally loaded on our server, then at least links will not be broken in case of trouble with the other website

If you find smilies that you really like, let me know and I'll make them a permanent fixture here at OB

Now how annoying are the red boxes of broken links

OK, I see foreign smilies all over the place. Can you guys post the smilies that you like into this thread and I will include them in OB. Keep'em semi clean
