Default AOL Accounts - blocked from Registration

OK, finally I am sick of it. AOL is now blocked from registration on OB. AOL is notorious for blocking forum emails...esp the e-mail confirmation messages. We get daily requests from people with AOL accounts complaining that they cannot post, because they never got a confirmation message...spam is off, etc... It's not you, it's AOL deleting your message and not even allowing it to go to your spam folder.

On top of that, if I send an announcement to everyone, it takes 1 or 2 AOL people to say that I sent spam for the whole server to be blocked from sending email to AOL...so now any user from AOL cannot get a notification that their thread got a reply...No thanks! Ditch AOL, it's junk! Use Gmail.

OK....I feel better now

AOL is twisted! Why do they go stick their nose in peoples emails and decide what's junk or not? I have to say that hotmail is not much better sometimes, I had countless incoming or outgoing emails which disappeared into a black hole, never to be seen again. Switched over to gmail and never looked back.

When new people register for OB, is it written somewhere about the problems with AOL?

Wow! What a pain. I am glad that I registered using Yahoo now. I was tempted to use my Compuserve Account who was bought out by AOL shortly after I switched from AOL.

yahoo has problems too, and will sometimes block the confirmation e-mails, which would prevent you from registering. also, yahoo will sometimes silently delete messages it sees as spam (without sending them to your spam folder).

Kip, Thanks for the heads up. I have not noticed this happening yet but will be on the look out for it.

I'll add my voice to the recommendation to use gmail. I have 4 email accounts- one for each of my 2 different clinic settings for patient communications, my personal gmail account for friends (and OB, by the way), and another for medical articles that I want to label in different ways. Works for me!
My only wish is that they would allow you to search within a label group for another group- ie- Friends, then orchids. But other than that, it's great.
I'm seriously considering canceling my Facebook account.
