promoting contests/projects

Just wondering if it would be possible or be a good idea to have a place on the left side to inform people of current contests and projects? I think most people search for info and are unaware of the current contest's, unless they search the forum. It also may encourage more membership from people that are otherwise lurkers. Just a thought

Actually there was promotion in the past. There would be a banner ad at the top of the page (where there are ads already.) Would be nice to do that again for the article contest!

I think we would need to ask Marty to do that if we wanted something like that.

It sounds a good idea to me, what do other people think?

Great idea.More info is always better [most of the time].It would get me to join in on the next project at the onset rather than find out about it months after it starts. Brad[a former long time lurker]

OK, I added a banner that will run until Feb 28. It will run here and also on 3 different sites to get us a bit more exposure.
