I think if you do this it is imperative that the information be correct. Look at some of the AOS culture sheets - like the one for Paphs. It is so generic it is really not very helpful, and there isn't one for Phrags at all, though they are grown differently from Paphs.

I think its a good idea but I think there should be an editing team to at least verify the accuracy of the sheets.

Just my 2 cents.

Marty,
I think the first of the two options you've outlined would work best for us.

All the replies posted here bring up credible points. Since I started growing orchids only 2 years ago, I've done lots and lots of reading on the subject. I've had numerous conversations with people about how they grow their collections. The one thing that I've learned from all of it is that...everybody has their own way of growing. What I've done is read it all and then pick and choose which of their suggestions works for me...in my conditions.

If member articles were to be implemented here, they should all start by saying "this is how I grow my orchids, in my conditions, which are: ______ " and the person's conditions should be listed. I think the "conditions" part is where a formula should be used.

Am I making any sense?

Yes, having the articles available for discussion "Peer Review" would work best, and in the best interest of anyone looking for info. And I also believe it would probably draw more attention to the site.

Why not start with a generic and see how it looks and then if needed add on some explanatory i.e. specifics on certain species etc

Exactly what I've been saying all along. Generics first, and specifics later on. Thanks tman for having a better ability to put stuff into understandable phrases/words. Sentences.

OK, looks like I can do this one. In fact we can have two types of care sheets

"Genus Care Sheets" this would be more general

"Specie Care Sheets" would be very specific.

now, what fields should a good care sheet have???

Representative Photo
Description
Moisture
Temperature Range
etc....

If people participate here, this will be a great resource !
