Twice today (after logging in), I've had to log in again in order to post. Anyone understand why?

Thanks.

I usually get that if the forum 'times out'.

Basically if you don't click on anything for a certain period of time it will log you out.

If you have not ticked the 'remember me' box when you logged in then it will require you to log in again when you do anything that cannot be done as a guest.

If you HAVE ticked 'remember me' then it will automatically log back in again, so you won't notice unless you notice that all the unread posts are suddenly marked as read.

Is it possible you are using a different machine to usual and did not tick the 'remember me' on this one, or that you accidentally unticked that box when you logged in?

Otherwise I'm not sure why it might be.

Important thing to remember. First clear your cookies and log out of Orchidbboard

then, you must go to http://www.orchidboard.com/community and log in. If you log in without the "www" in the front, you will be logged in but at orchidboard.com not Orchid Board and as soon as you press anything you will be redirected to the site with "www" at which point you will be logged out.

I know it's a bit confusing, but that's how cookies work on vbulletin software.

so, log out, go to http://www.orchidboard.com/community and log back in, click "remember me" and always come back to http://www.orchidboard.com/community

you should have no issues

Okay...I'll click on the "remember me" next time. Sometimes I ponder what to write, so it's probably timing out. I always use a "www" and with IE8, OB is now an automatic www link.

Thanks for the clues...

The time-out gets me quite often when I'm taking a long time composing what I want to write.

I've got in the habit that if I'm taking a long time I click the 'Go Advanced' part way through. Then I keep pressing the 'Preview Post' at regular intervals. It stops it timeing out while I'm thinking about what to write.

(I DON'T use the remember me because I'm usually on a computer that's used by other people and I don't want them clicking on my favorite and getting logged in as me).
