I'm also leaning towards keeping social groups. This is only the first version of the software to have social groups. We can expect the functionality to improve. We're not alone in this boat, and there are thousands of forums out there that use the same software. Typically the objective of vbulletin is to provide functionality that users want. Lets wait this one out and see where we end up with future updates. Until then, just be keen on having serious discussions in the forum section and leave the social groups for socializing

I must admit I haven't checked the groups area in weeks.
Seems like we'll be keeping them but for non-orchid related subjects:

I don't think the board is as interesting as it used to be. Perhaps it is the social groups. I don't know. I don't care for the social groups. Carol

I for one don't check the social groups and I notice so many post are from new folks. Where is everybody? I like reading post by the newbies on OB and I notice many get few responses.

I don't get as many e-mails from the OB like I used to.

Sheridan, I notice that many of the "elders" are not posting as much as before. That seems to make me tend to not check OB as much as I once did. So, yeah, I agree with you. I love seeing new members come on board and love to help them out, but I too miss the regulars that we normally "play" with. It is summertime and people go on vacations, and/or stay outdoors more, but I think we have lost alot of the camaraderie we once had. Not sure why. I certainly miss that.
