Default Automatic Img resizing

If a picture is placed in a post that is larger in width than 640px it should now be automatically re-sized. This will keep the forum consistent without breaking the layout in some posts. Should also be easier to read threads with large pictures.

This software is just in beta release, so it might still have few bugs.

example below:

When I entered this post, the image was full size and then it resized automatically. Marty I didn't know you got a new car....tired of the Jeep? No doubt you will look sweet it that mobile!

The bugger is that when you go to Reply to the post the image stays the full size and your OB window extends way past the edges of my 17" screen.

Most long time members know enough to keep pics small or in a thumbnail. So this will be mostly for the newcomers. And then we can all yell at them for having big pictures. Well, at least direct them to the proper way of posting a pic. Hehe

Hi, I came across this thread in my search to figure out image posting guidelines [is there an official FAQ on it somewhere that I missed?].

I would use thumbnails but I'm not sure to do that.

Is it via the 'insert image' function?

Also that brings up a window asking for the online location of the image you want to insert- can images be uploaded from your harddrive as well?

Thanks
Damian.

Default Thumbnails

Ok I found this:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ils-posts.html
Quote:
When you're posting a thread and want to add a thumbnail, use Go Advanced. Write what you want, then scroll down and you'll see a link to Manage Attachments. Browse for the resized photo you want, click upload, close that window and submit your thread
I also found this thread:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...r-feature.html

I've discovered that the maximum size of a photo that can be attached is 97.7 kb so I have to resize everything and my photos in the gallery are much larger that that so I can't attach them unless I take them all down and resize them.

If I were to resize everything in my gallery, how do I attach photos from there into my posts? What particular BBcode do I type into the Manage Attachments upload window?

Thanks
Damian.

Damian, if you already have it in the gallery, you don't need to save them and attach them.

Post a link to your photo gallery. Where are you hosting your photos?

There are many ways you can attach images to posts

1. Post links to images
2. Post Thumbnails or images hosted on OrchidBoard or elsewhere directly into posts
3. Post it as an attachment directly from your computer

Hi Marty and thanks for your help!

I have a lot of images on the orchidsonline.com.au site as well as in my photobucket album.

I think links are a good idea, especially if the images are quite big [as some of mine tend to be] so people can choose whether or not to look at them and once they have they don't have to load them again if they ever want to read or post to that particular thread.

Having said that the thumnails with the filmstrip are very unique and most excellent feature here on this forum
