Works fine to me but I haven't been on lately.

The only thing that happens sometimes is that it may freeze up or when you hit enter to submit the line of conversation it doesn't respond but this is a minor intermittent problem.

The only thing that I find weird about it is that download window that pops up and wants to download to my machine. Yesterday Kris left the chat and then it got weird and the download came on and it apparently downloaded to my computer the sound of a door closing without my permission!!! It also appears at times when you want to stick a smillie on your message.
Otherwise Marty it is alot of fun!!! Like all the smillies.

Marty, so far it seems fine but I know that last night it kept kicking Gin out and she finally gave up and had to leave

THis could be just a coincidence, but is it possible that chat causes the website to go down? Twice since the upgrade and new chat has OB gone down while chat was particularly busy. Maybe you were just doing upgrades at that time? Otherwise chat looks cool, feels cool, and sounds cool. Sorry to hear about Gin and any one else having probs with chat. I wonder what the reason for that is.

I think you are right tindo , the web site would not come up last night and once the night before . Off and on it won't post a reply in chat , last night it would not do anything . Might be from all of the bad weather in other states causing transmission trouble ? just a guess .Chat seems to act up more when there is a lot of us on it . Gin

No the site has gone down for another reason. The server on which it is hosted has been under a lot of strain, esp the database. Apparantly my VivariumTopSites have been causing slowdowns on the shared server due to high traffic. This is partially caused by turkish spammers, who try to join topsites in order to get more traffic. Even though I deny them all, they still put my VivariumTopSites button into their pages (despite the fact that they're not rated). Now if their spamming page gets 100,000 visitors it means that my button had to be pulled out of the database on the shared server 100,000 times. This choked them up a bit and the sys admins didn't really like that and decided to close down all my domains with a nasty (generic) message that the account has been suspended. We should be good now, I'll try to work on banning the Turks tomorrow.

btw, I'll have to think about dedicated hosting to have free reign over the administration of the server. Problem is it's $130-$190/month. Right now although OB is a very fun site, it really brings next to nothing and is far from paying for that kind of hosting.

Marty,

I'm suddenly having trouble accessing chat. When I start chat, it quits at 82% when "Loading Main Chat Window", no matter how many times I try. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Marie
