I just got a private message from an OB member, Tom in PA inviting me to join another orchid forum...
I find this inappropriate !!! I don't expect to get adds or any other form of offers in my private messages, I get enough spam in my mailbox...

I got that last week. I found the site inferior and I was put out by that PM. It sort of bore the message "come on over and join us. Lots of OB members are switching over." (Paraphrased)

This is the second time I've received a PM from the same source and don't like it, either. Tom, if you want to build another sandbox, I'm happy for you but if you want help building it, be open on this board and let people know what's what.....then if someone wants more info THEY can PM you!

I have already privately apologized to the 3 that are in this post already and I would like to apologize to any one else as well.

My intentions were not to steal anyone away from OB but to rather share the news a new forum was started and to come on over and check it out. I did not think making a post would be as appriopiate or personal as a PM but I must have been wrong in my thinking and I am sorry if I made anyone mad.

Just to clear one thing though...I WAS NOT and had no intentions or even applying that you should leave OB and come over to OI. My mesage (pasted below) was plan and simple but taken the wrong way...sorry everyone

I would like to invite you to check out and join in the fun of a new orchid forum. It is fast becoming a great place to talk about orchids, share pictures, and meet new (and old) friends who have the same interests as you. I have learned so much from the people who participate there I consider it one of my most valuable resources that I would not want to live without.

No worries, Tom. I have not joined but I did check out the forum. Looks like you're in the lead anyway with recruitment so maybe you'll still win that $100 gift certificate from Andy's! It's all for the love of orchids.

Thanks for the apology, Tom. I'm sure your intentions with your PM's meant no harm to anyone. You were very "up front" in your PM and said outright that you were not trying to "steal" away anyone. And, people go where they want to go and I doubt you or anyone else could make those who enjoy this board leave...they may join and participate in more than one forum.... So here's to the success of your venture...and thank you for letting us know about your sandbox....
