I have a problem with the chat

Last night I tried to stay in chat and it turned weird for me. It's the second time. It works fine for a few minutes, then without warning every time I hit the space bar it's like I hit the enter key. So I get one word at a time on the screen. Tony suggested getting out then back in but that seems lame to me. Any suggestions? I tried two different PCs and both did the same thing.

Yup, that's a bug in the chat. For now that's all we've got. Nothing better has been released yet. Once I move us to the new vbulletin, I'll work on getting something better.

I was having serious issues with chat on saturday too. Since I only do the chat once every couple of months, I have no idea how many other issues I might have. I couldn't see anything (even my own posts) unless I manually refreshed the browser window... It was getting a bit tedious. *grin*

What happened to Ross is just something we've adjusted to until something better comes along. Leave and come back in is the standard mantra

Rob, the problem you were having the other night was just plain strange! I felt bad that you were having such a hard time since we don't get to chat with you very often

I'm thinking it must've been a connection thing rather than a problem with the chat room. I've never seen that happening to anyone before.

Hopefully, the next time you get to join us, it'll be a smoother and more enjoyable time

Gotcha beat! I once did a "chat" sort of thing in the old days on a 400 baud modem. We thought that was as fast as it gets!

I didn't say I had a 4800 baud modem, I just coveted one. *grin*

Someday we will tell our kids about these flat vinyl 'records' and shiny 'CDs' and they will look at us like we are from Mars. Or perhaps we will be from mars by then, I don't know. A phone that you can't unplug from the wall? WTF? English text with vowels in it? *grin* I didn't even have MTV growing up, and when I did have it they were still playing actual music videos. I can't even get my graduate student to use a command line interface (god forbid it is MS-DOS).
